It’s a local holiday tradition now in its 21st year — Oakton Church of the Brethren’s Christmas Craft Show! We are now taking crafter registrations and there’s room for more crafters’ wares. The three-day show is consignment-shop style, staffed by church volunteers, freeing crafters to do another show that same weekend. Show hours will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both Thursday, Nov. 20 and Friday, Nov. 21, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22. We actively publicize the event and our show’s bake sale and homemade soup and sandwich lunch also help draw a crowd.
A unique feature of our show is that, besides crafts, we also sell craft supplies. Every year many of our registered crafters consign or donate craft supplies to our craft supply sales room.
A $20 crafter sign-up fee and 10 percent of crafter sales go toward church projects, such as the fund for repayment of the church’s disability access renovation loan.
Would you or someone you know be interested in including crafts at the show? Contact the church office for more information at 703-281-4411 or .
Training and overview of Children’s Church leadership will be offered after church on Sunday, October 26 over a light lunch. Junior Highs, Senior Highs and adult who volunteer in Children’s Church and have not attended training in the past year are encouraged to come. Just want to learn a little more about what we do? Join us! RSVP to Debbie Seidel
The Action/Reflection committee is hosting an all-church cooking day for the benefit of BNP. On Saturday October 18th, from 2PM to 5-6PM, we’ll meet in the church kitchen to prepare and freeze soups, chop and freeze vegetables to be used by BNP. These frozen items will be picked up from the church on Monday October 20th. Come join in the fun. Please ponder this as you think about joining us in our all church cooking outreach; have you ever been HUNGRY, underfed? Do you know anyone who is HUNGRY, underfed? In the US today, 1 in 6 people are struggling with hunger. Tonight (and every night) more than 50 million Americans won’t have enough food to eat by day’s end.
Hope you will join us in this outreach project.
