VBS Compassion Camp
We have some exciting summer news! Oakton Church of the Brethren will hold a Virtual VBS this year, using Illustrated Ministry’s “Compassion Camp” curriculum!
When: Weeks of July 5 to August 2, Any time you want
Where: Virtually
Who: You! And all your friends!
Participation is FREE and available to anyone who registers, so spread the word!
With Compassion Camp, kids and their families will explore what it means to have compassion for others, ourselves, and the world.

VBS videos will be posted on a Google Site connected to Google Drive that you will receive private invitations to view and use. Each week’s videos will be posted on Sunday afternoons beginning July 5. We will have an optional “Compassion Chill and Chat” on Zoom on Thursdays at 5:30 pm.

Well-Behaved Women Rarely Make History
All adult women are invited to attend the Oakton Women’s Retreat – March 13-15, 2020, at Shepherd’s Spring Retreat Center. Pastor Audrey will help us explore Shiphrah and Puah from Exodus 1:15-21 and how their “holy mischievousness,” and even radical, faithful disobedience can be a model for our lives. Christmas Eve Service
Tuesday, December 24, 7:00 p.m. This year’s service is a celebration of the Christ Child with light and color, music and word. A special offering opportunity for Brethren Disaster Ministries will also be included. Brethren Disaster Ministries responds in emergency situations with childcare, reconstruction, and more. Join us for this special evening ushering in the light of Christ.
Pumpkin Party
Folks of all ages head to the country where we get to know each other and new friends in a relaxed setting.
Christmas Craft Show! November 21-23, 2019
Our Annual Christmas Craft Show is coming up. Don’t miss out on festive handmade crafts, crafting supplies, and delicious baked goods. Christmas Eve Service
Please join us at 7:00 pm on December 24th to celebrate the birth of Jesus. It will be a service of the Christmas story told through scripture and music. We will share in a candle lighting ceremony and partake in communion.

Annual Christmas Festival
Please join us on Sunday, December 2nd at 5:00PM for our Annual Christmas Festival at the Church. We will start with hot apple cider outside by the fire followed by a program in the Sanctuary and finish with our traditional Turkey gravy biscuit dinner. Christmas Caroling
Please mark your calendars for Saturday, December 15th at 5:00PM for the Deacons’ Annual Christmas Caroling event. We plan to meet at the Church at 5:00PM and then head out to sing to a few of our Church members and local nursing homes. Afterward, we plan to have a light dinner at the Church. This is always a fun and rewarding event that we look forward to each year! The more the merrier!

Ladies’ Tea
Ladies, it’s that time of year to get out your hat, gloves, and boas and join us for the Ladies Tea on Sunday, May 20th, immediately following church. Ladies of all ages are invited. A tea lunch will be served (gluten free will be available), followed by a short program called “Purses R Us”. Trust me, you won’t want to miss this fun light-hearted skit. Of course, there will be lots of fellowship throughout the afternoon. Please sign-up on the sheet in the narthex so we have an idea of how much food to prepare. Although not mandatory, hats and boas are encouraged and always make for a fun afternoon. Hope you can make it!

Baked Potato Bar & Bluegrass
On May 6, please join us after the service for NYC Baked Potatoes and Bluegrass! There will be a baked potato bar, with all the fixings, and music courtesy of Scott Seidel and Bob Craig. All contributions will go to the youth fund. For more information, please contact Pam Young-Schultz ().
Church Group Photo
Please stay for a church photo immediately after worship service Sunday, Apr. 29. We will gather in front of the church. After the photo, a complimentary lunch will be served and a silent auction will take place to help the youth go to National Youth Conference. The photo will be used on the cover of the new church directory.
